Best friends since college, each twenty-something (okay, almost thirty) has seen her share of career foils and romantic foibles in the world's greatest city, New York. Having been friends for more than a decade, they know that they all need a change. On Valentine's Day, they are each alone for one reason or another. At dinner together, the trio makes a pact. Within one year, each woman will change the thing that most challenges her. For Tali, good Tali, whose boyfriend of five years just left her for a personal trainer, it will be to find romance -- or a fling -- in every foreign country she visits (and given her job as a secret shopper for high-end resorts, she goes to a lot of foreign countries). For Schuyler, a book editor, her goal is to get on the other side of the typewriter and write her own book -- much to the dismay of her boyfriend, who is a Very Public Figure. And for commitment-phobic, Daddy's little rich-girl, Kim (she can't hold a job, or a boyfriend, unless he's married and therefore erratic and unattainable) , her goal is to have an engagement ring and a house in Scarsdale. Each woman starts the first day of the year of reckoning with the best of intentions -- which is exactly why the pact goes immediately, and exceptionally, awry. Filled with the delicious insider details (of a celebrity-level (or celebrity-wannabe) lifestyle), Chasing Harry Winston brings listeners once again into the heart of an elite world, where friendships will be tested to the point of breaking. Let the games begin. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Enjoyable, easy readI found Chasing Harry Winston a much more entertaining read than The Devil Wears Prada. Even though I've recently said goodbye to my thirties and am happily married, these single gals' escapades were fun to follow. It is a standard chick lit tale with a Sex in the City feel. It's easy to read so borrowing it from a friend or the libary is a good suggestion. Rating: - Use your library card if you really want to read this bookAs a person who is open-minded with all types of literature, I would have to honestly say that Weisberger's most recent attempt is a near-miss of her intended target.. what's sad is that this book somehow still managed to be a best seller. Cheating boyfriends who lead you to belittle yourself and your beliefs... sleeping with vast amounts of men and viewing it as not only a testament to your attractiveness, but also to your high self-value... and even better - cheating on your significant ... Read More Rating: - I admire those who could finish this bookAfter 106 pages of dribble, I finally had to put this book down. I've never read a Lauren Weisberger book, and I don't think I will ever ready anything else by this author. This book is boring, unimaginative and totally pointless, and I usually enjoy a good "chick lit" book. The story follows the adventures of the pursuit of sex in love from three self obsessed, one dimensional, annoying characters. Each characters vows to change there lives in the course of a year: Adriana ... Read More Rating: - Pleasantly SurprisedI was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. I didn't enjoy the author's second book at all, which I thought was just a clone of her first novel, the famous "Devil Wears Prada." I'm happy to report that Ms. Weisberger really branches out with her latest book, "Chasing Harry Winston." This book is nothing like her first two. It's a little slow in the beginning--I had some trouble getting into it. But about a quarter of the way through, the plot picked up, and I finished the book in two days. Yes, ... Read More Rating: - DON'T BOTHERThis book is stupid. The characters and plot line are shallow, whining, and predictable. Don't waste your time. |
