Product Description: Lillian Haswell, brilliant daughter of the local apothecary, yearns for more adventure and experience than life in her father's shop and their small village provides. She also longs to know the truth behind her mother's disappearance, which villagers whisper about but her father refuses to discuss. Opportunity comes when a distant aunt offers to educate her as a lady in London. Exposed to fashionable society and romance--as well as clues about her mother--Lilly is torn when she is summoned back to her ailing father's bedside. Women are forbidden to work as apothecaries, so to save the family legacy, Lilly will have to make it appear as if her father is still making all the diagnoses and decisions. But the suspicious eyes of a scholarly physician and a competing apothecary are upon her. As they vie for village prominence, three men also vie for Lilly's heart.

The Apothecary's Daughter was a delightful historical story from a woman's point of view. Culturally and historically accurate. The Christian perspective was intrinsic, yet, not front and central. Plot twists, character development and creative writing make this a must read for women of faith.

This story was very true to the lifestyle of the times. Regency England with it's Caste system was very nicely portrayed in this offering. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys tales of the English Countryside and true Romance. The Historical aspect of the present day pharmacy was nicely laid out and explained as well as the inequities and prejudices of the time. Medicine has come a long way since the times of Leeches. Good Read.

The novel moved too slowly and was a little sophmoric. Maybe a good teenager book, but as I guy I should have skipped it.

Lilly Haswell is the Apothecary's daughter - and her story was an enjoyable read. I got it as a freebie and enjoyed the whimsical historical cures written in between chapters. It was a little "long in the tooth" at times and could have used some additional editing - but overall it kept my intereste until the end. Thanks to Ms. Klassen for sharing.

I found this book on accident, but I purchased it because it looked good. The book doesn't have the best plot, but the characters and situations keep you reading until the end. If you love historical fiction I would DEFINITELY recommend this book.
