Editorial Review:

Product Description:
A walking tour of Venice on a 60-minute cassette tape. This tour of Venice covers the heart of the city. The tour begins at the Piazza San Marco and ends at the Rialto Bridge.

Venezia, the Queen of the Adriatic, La Serenesema; all are names history has used to describe this beautiful city. The Cicerone begins his tour at the legendary Piazza San Marco, perhaps the best known square in the world. This tour covers the city’s major sites and gives an overview of why Venice is one of the world’s most popular cities.

We see buildings Napoleon constructed the Doge’s Palace and that most extraordinary Byzantine building, St. Marks. We learn about government and business and intrigue. We can take coffee where it was first served in the western world and where Casanova came for one last flirtation before going to hide out in Paris.

We see the Bridge of Sighs and the infamous Lion’s Mouth, where citizens made accusations against their fellow Venetians. We stop where Marco Polo sailed out to discover the East and bring back pasta and garlic to the Italian people.

The tour is a full day’s tour or several shorter walks. There is a large, oversized print map showing the route of the tour. It also indicates places to find refreshments, ATMs and toilets.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - good tours
I always get these tours when I travel. They are inexpensive and thorough. Venice is the best yet. The voice is so clear that I can hear everything, even above street noise.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I like The Cicerone
Glad to see this new tour with The Cicerone. We like his tours and use them whenever we go to Italy. I think the maps are fabulous because they are so large I can see them without my spectacles.
