That’s what makes this collection of recipe makeovers so exceptional. Los Angeles food writer, chef, and caterer Devin Alexander specializes in low-fat, high-flavor, scrumptious cuisine. In Fast Food Fix, she shows the reader how to transform 75 fast food favorites into healthier versions that are even more flavorful than the originals. Fast Food Fix: • demystifies the special seasonings and secret sauces of choice fast foods—showing how to reproduce their flavors quickly and easily from common ingredients • teaches how to lighten many dishes with new cooking techniques, such as the oven-frying method that yields incredibly crunchy popcorn chicken with 35 fewer fat grams than the original version from KFC • reveals simplified cooking methods that save time in the kitchen, proving that "fast food" can still be fast even when prepared at home For Americans hooked on fast food flavors, these recipe makeovers by a chef with an impressive repertoire of culinary tricks will quickly become a kitchen staple. ![]() Rating: - Excellent recipes to recreate all your fast food favouritesI absolutely love this cookbook, I use it most weekends when I'm craving fast food after a long week at work. The recipes are fabulous and really do taste like the fast food you would eat in Mc Donalds, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen etc. The only difference is that the recipes in this cookbook all are a lower in calories and fat than the original fast food ones. Plus they are all easy to make. I have all of Devin Alexander's cookbooks and I'd have to say that this would be my joint favourite cookbook along ... Read More Rating: - Awesome Cookbook! It really is GREAT! The cookbook came yesterday and I've made the In and Out Burger: Double Double with onion on page 24 and the Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino Blended Coffee on page 208. BOTH are dead ringers for the real thing! I quit eating fast food two years ago, with the exception of the occaisional Subway, and to tell the truth I sometimes miss it. This is the perfect answer for me! Those hamburgers were EXCELLENT! Only problem...I ate two of them! I can't wait to try more! Rating: - great bookThis book has so many good recipes, I have made 4 recipes in the month I have had the book and they are all so good! The pizza hut pizza sauce recipe was dead on. I would really recommend this book!!!!!!!! Rating: - Fast Food Fix is awesome!I LOVE this cookbook! It has great alternative suggestions and although some selections are time consuming the first time by the second and third it's no big deal. The kids like to pick out their menu and I feel better letting them splurge now that I can make it a lot healthier. Great job Devin! Rating: - AmazingThe recipes in this book are amazing. The Big Mac is spot on (unbelievably so). The Burger King Onion Rings and Chicken Tenders are awesome. The KFC Popcorn Chicken is better than KFC's. If you want low fat "fast" food you just can't go wrong here. |
