Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Homecoming Review by:Ashley Hughes
I saw apart of the movie on TV, but I didn't see it all. Actually, right now on september 18 2006 I started reading the book and am going to read the entire Tillerman series too. This is One of my Four top rated movies. And pretty much my top rated movies are the ones I'm adicted too. This is the greatest movie I've ever seen.I Love the character of Dicey. One I think she's the cutest.Mainly she's the oldest and she has the most responsibility. ActuallyI saw this movie about 2 or 3 years ago.And ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - EXCELLENT!
I first viewed this movie in 1997, and fell in love with the film immediately.

This film is a rarity in cinema, in regard to the fact that it follows the book (by Cynthia Voight) quite accurately. I've seen so many films, particularily in America, in which the cinematic/television rendition of a novel seems to veer far away from the original story. This film does not, and I credit director Mark Jean for faithfully adapting this wonderful novel to film. Special mention is also due ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Touching...
I have never read the book before and I didn't even know there was a book until after I read a few of the reviews here on Amazon. I loved the movie. It was very, very touching. The story made perfect sense to me even though I haven't read the book. The characters are well written and these kids are wonderful actors. Dicey is a brave young girl who takes on horrific responsibilities one can only imagine. I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a night of struggles, loss, love and ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very Well Done
The actors in this movie are SUBERB. The kids all did a wonderful job. I must say though that I would highly, highly recommend reading the book before watching the movie. By itself, I'm not sure that the movie would make much sense in the fact that a lot of important scenes from the book were cut for the sake of time. But if you have read the book, the movie gives you pictures and further imprints the story in your mind; as I said, the acting is incredible. The characters are all real and diverse ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Your heart will be broken............then it will be warmed!
"Homecoming" tells the story of four siblings in search of their
grandmother after being abandoned in a mall parking lot by their
mother who suffers from a mental illness. Led by the oldest
sister, Dicey (age 13), the children travel many miles on foot
to a grandmother they have never known. Anne Bancroft does a
fantastic job of portraying a cranky old woman who has forgotten
what it is to love and be loved. The children do a great job of
reminding her. You'll ... Read More
