In the 14th century, the malevolent Maleficent (not dissimilar to the wicked Queen in Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) taunts a king that his infant Aurora will fatally prick her finger on a spinning wheel before sundown on her 16th birthday. This, of course, would deny her a happily-ever-after with her true love. Things almost but not quite turn out that way, thanks to the assistance of some bubbly, bumbling fairies named Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. It's not really all that much about the title character--how interesting can someone in the middle of a long nap be, anyway? Instead, those fairies carry the day, as well as, of course, good Prince Phillip, whose battle with the malevolent Maleficent in the guise of a dragon has been co-opted by any number of animated films since. And Malificent's castle, filled with warthogs and demonic imps in a macabre dance celebrating their evil ways, manages a certain creepy grandeur. --David Kronke Average Rating:
 Rating:  - Not one of my fave Disney filmsFor some reason, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but I'm really not into Sleeping Beauty. I adore Disney movies and have seen pretty much every one, with the exception of a couple. This does not rank high on my list. The story never really interested me, the music was just OK. It came as a bit old fashioned for me. That said, It's certainly not a bad movie by any means, just not as enjoyable as some of the other brilliant ones out there. Rating:  - Major Rip-OffThe DVD arrived in a timely fashion. However, it was cracked on the bottom of the DVD and was, therefore, unreadable by my DVD player. When I initially complained, I was promised another copy of Sleeping Beauty. Weeks have gone past and I never got the replacement copy. I then contacted both the vendor and Amazon and, now, over a month later -- still no replacement and no word. If you want to avoid being ripped off, I would seriously avoid this vendor. Rating: - Hard to FindVery hard to find, unless the goofy Disney vault re-releases it. I had a problem with the sticker around the DVD hole as this was from a Utah library. It got stuck in my DVD player, had to open it and take it out. Other than that the movie plays fine. Rating: - HorribleI ordered a New 2 disc sleeping Beauty, and I received a Used 1 disc copy instead. The Used copy will not play in my dvd player... I have contacted the seller and they will not response back to me... I have contacted Amazon, and I am on Hold... I have asked for a refund, and been refused. I have been a faithful customer with Amazon for years, so needless to say, I am very disappointed in the treatment that I am getting from the seller and the company.
