![]() Rating: - fine compilation of Petula at her very bestPetula Clark has been entertaining countless people over the years; and she still keeps going strong. This fine CD gives us many of her greatest hits although truthfully her beautiful voice can create a hit out of any tune. The CD track set begins with her famous hit entitled "Downtown." The piano intro works well and Petula's voice never misses a beat! Petula sings "Downtown" with so much soul you just know this is her own idea of where to go for fun and good times with friends. The ... I was born in 1964, but I remember much of this from my early childhood, as Charleston SC's WTMA AM (now a talk station) played them often and our house had the radio on frequently duinrg the mid-late 1960s. This is some of the earliest music that I remember liking as a child. Nostalgic ... Unfortunately, almost all of her "greatest hits" packages ignore all these hits. But this package includes most of them. Do get one of her other anthologies ... Read More Rating: - The Swingin'-est Girl!I can't get enough of Petula Clark's Greatest Hits! Do you remember the scene in "Goodbye, Mr. Chips", when Petula sings the school song with all her heart? The whole school turns and stares at her in awe. Who wouldn't? Her clear, strong, and expressive voice is just captivating. Her choice of songs is fabulous - cheerful, modern, exhilarating. When she sings "Who Am I?", I can see myself taking off from the ground to the clouds! We need a lot more of this kind of music! Rating: - Petula Clark has a golden voiceI love the songs of Petula Clark and her Greatest Hits CD is wonderful. All the songs you remember from years ago sound the same and her voice is just darling. I highly recommend this CD if you love the sounds of Petula Clark. She has a beautiful voice and one that can rock you to sleep. |
