Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
A bridge between bossa nova and 1960s pop, Sergio Mendes' music was easy listening, vaguely psychedelic pop, light jazz, and bossa nova all rolled into one. Mendes and Brasil '66 (which featured Mendes on keyboards and a revolving cast of two female vocalists, bass, guitar, drums and percussion) had a number of hits from the mid-'60s to the early-1970s that are included here. Getting his professional start playing and arranging for Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto, Mendes typically filled out his proper albums with updated versions of popular songs written by the Brazilian masters as well as some of his own tunes his tunes "Look Around" and "So Many Stars" are included. But this collection really surveys his interpretations of pop tunes of the day, some of which were never hits for Mendes. The small combo's light touch and rich vocal harmonies make for pleasant if kitschy covers of hits like the Beatles' "Fool On The Hill" and "Day Tripper," Burt Bacharach's "The Look Of Love," and others. --Tad Hendrickson

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66
Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66's hits are pretty much included in this CD. What a wonderful beat and what memories. I highly recommend this CD to anyone wanting a good selection of his early hits. I found all the ones I loved on this CD plus a couple of others that were a joy to discover.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - bad issue
the first 3 songs were as expected but the rest of the CD wouldn't play tried cleaning it still wouldn't play

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66 Greatest Hits
I love the Bosa Nova sound, and Brazil '66 was the best. I play this CD contantly and never tire of it. Some younger generation music lovers are really starting to listen and appreciate what Sergio Mendes brought us in the sixties. This CD is a nice combination of their music and I highly recommend it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Pure pleasure!
Listening to this CD transported me to another time and place. With it's calm, smooth and silky sound I forgot I was not on some beach in Brasil 40 years ago sipping on something mild. I absolutely recommend this one.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice easy listening, with a Brazilian flavor!
I have enjoyed Brasil '66 since hearing Fool on the Hill on satellite radio. The group, working with jazz legend Herb Albert, covers a number of easy listening hits, though spicing them up with a Brazilian flair. Check out Fool on the Hill, With A Little Help From My Friends, and Scarborough Fair to see what I mean. Also check out Mais Que Nada, a nice song in Portuguese (you don't need to understand Portuguese to like the song - I only understand a few words). In short, this is a very nice sounding ...
