With Simon & Schuster Interactive's Classic Star Trek: Captain's Chair, you can find out. This program gives you a personal tour of the USS Enterprise, the USS Defiant, and more. Star Trek officers narrate your virtual trip, visually enhanced by photo-realistic QuickTime graphics. You explore five ships inside and out, panning, zooming, and rotating your way through dozens of 3-D props and objects. Along the way, you can activate consoles, phasers, monitors, and tricorders as if you were in command of the ship. The program features more than 1,600 linked hot spots that simulate real Starship commands. The graphic simulations of the ships are impressive, and moving your way around is easy. No doubt this is the closest experience to being on one of the Starship bridges you could have without actually being there (or on a Star Trek set). There is only one problem with this program--nothing happens. Once you've looked around the ships, there's not much else for you to do. You may be disappointed that there are no Klingons to fight and no place to beam to. Unless you are a Trekkie fascinated by every ounce of Star Trek trivia, you might fall asleep in the Captain's Chair. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Worth GettingCaptain's Chair is a very interesting look at some of the ships that were on all of the TV series besides Enterprise. Now, I guess because it's called "Captain's Chair", it doesn't have DS9 but it does have the Defiant. Overall, I think that the TNG Interactive Techinal Manual is better when it comes to information and more detal. What this has that I didn't see in the TNG Manual was the interviews with the cast. That's right, when you explore the ships, you can find on the capain's chair a button ... Read More Rating: - It's fun to poke around the bridgeOverall I agree with the other reviews. I purchased this "game" when it first came out. It's fun to poke around and play with each station (blow up Voyager? oh my!) The only problem I've had is the E conference lounge access - anybody know how to get in there? I haven't been able to find any hints! Arrgh Rating: - Ensign you have the conn.I have a ton of Star Trek games but, this is one of the neatests. You get to go on any of five Star Trek Bridges and push buttons and shoot probes and phasers. The best part is you get to pick up props like phasers and hyprosprase. You even get to open a tricorder. The games mostly free-roaming, actualy it is all free roaming. It's live action to exept for the original enterprise which is cheap 3-D. The only bad part is that you can get bored after your first three days of playing. It's not like ... Read More Rating: - Most under rated of Star Trek CD's. Could use update.I don't know why this one never caught on. It has all the graphics and sounds of all the popular ships. Enterprise the original, the E and the D, the Defiant from DS9 and Voyager. It covers just about everything except the engine rooms which could be done with an updated version. It's literally has just about each sound and graphic from each bridge. It's something I found by accident at a local gaming store. I always thought there was no way they could make a decent package. Seeing the copyright ... Plus examine all the bridge stations and the LCARS (Library Computer Access and Retrieval System) screens, plus many hand held items on seats and tables. Examine the exterior of the ships. Plus play three different games on the original Enterprise bridge. Uncover the secret code to unlock a sixth bridge of a klingon ship! (Hints at maxiumdefiant.com) A great addition ... Read More |
