Amazon.com Review:
Ah, Candy Land. The beginner board game that entertains kids and bores parents half to death. Thanks to Candy Land, the CD-ROM, you can now delegate Candy Land duties to your computer. But don't leave yet--you just might find yourself wanting to revisit the land of licorice castles and gumdrop mountains once you glimpse the tasty graphics and yummy detours this new version serves up.

In virtual Candy Land, kids click on a candy machine instead of drawing cards. The machine spits out a candy, and the player moves his/her gingerbread person (yes, political correctness has come to Candy Land) to the matching square. The screen looks just like the board game, but when a player moves, it transforms to point of view. Suddenly the player is transported to a place where pastel bunnies hop over gumdrop bushes, as the path unfurls over edible-looking landscapes. This program truly does look good enough to eat. Eight different play areas on the board fulfill every candy fantasy imaginable, as Fudgsicles replace the brown end of a cattail reed, and ice cream fills the sea.

Single players can play against the computer, or up to four kids can play the game. This game teaches mouse skills, turn-taking, counting, and matching. The activity areas are the computer-game equivalent of candy: fun, junky, and not a full square meal. But we think a trip to virtual Candy Land may prove a bit more interesting than a visit to the one in the box with a board. --Anne Erickson

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - awesome game for kids...and adults
I don't understand why adults would roll their eyes over this game and this is coming from a 22 year old. I bought this game for my sister years ago when it was the board game and we both loved it and the CD rom version is even better than the board game. I let my babysitting charges play with it and they love it. The graphics are beautiful and yummy looking with all those candy and sweet flavoured characters and the game is a great learning tool for helping kids get used to numbers and counting, ...
