![]() Rating: - Not bad, not great, just averageStar Wars Dark Forces (1994.) A Star Wars first-person shooter for the Playstation One. The Star Wars series has been around since the late seventies, and video games based on the series have been around nearly as long. Ever since the old days of the Atari 2600, everyone's favorite tale of a galaxy far far away has been converted into a video game. Unfortunately, Star Wars video games have always been infamous for their "hit or miss" reputation. The mid-nineties saw the release of Dark ... And as it may be a sin to compare it to Doom, because honestly and truthfully, this game is hardly what Doom is, I must say one thing....take Doom, send it through a meat grinder, out pops Dark Forces. Characters are made of HUGE sprites--The closer you get, the more blocky they are. Backgrounds/levels are huge, but poorly done. Most levels are just plain boring and the colors are extremely dull looking. The sound, out of everything, is fairly good. Effects and ... Read More Rating: - The beginning of KatarnKyle Katarn quickly became my favorite character in the gaming world. In "Dark Forces", the first of the series, you really only begin to learn the basic brute skills of fighting. You also learn several mind skills, not powers, but necessary exercises to prepare you for the coming hazards in the next challenge(DFII on PC). This game, after 6 months of an off again on again gaming ralationship, is still very fun. This was my first game on PC, and though dated graphically, it's still better than the average ...
