This one is plastic, but the principle is the same: To stay fresh, bread needs air--but not too much. Vents in this keeper allow proper circulation. The plastic slicing guide makes uniform slicing easy--starting at about a half-inch in thickness. The guide, however, accommodates a loaf only 5 inches wide, 1-1/4 inches narrower than the keeper accommodates.  Rating:  - Ideal for Home-Baking. . .a MUST HAVE!I just LOVE this! It makes it so much easier for slicing bread and you can easily adjust your bread & eye it so that you can get thinner slices then the actual slicing guide provides. Because of gas prices & food prices. . .I make our everyday bread now to help save on money(and it is soooo much healthier for you and your family) and this item provides the storage and slicing guide I needed to be able to do that! This comes RECOMMENDED! Rating: - Bread KeeperNeat gadget! Does the trick! Homemade bread lasts longer using the cutting guide to make uniform slices. Rating:  - UnderwhelmedI have had my bread keeper and cutting guide for approx. 2 weeks. The bread keeper and cutting guide have a nice clean appearance. Its functionality leaves much to be desired. The keeper is large and sometimes awkward to handle. I much prefer a used bread wrapper. The slicing guide is set for slices that are to thin. I find some of my breads falling apart after slicing. I no longer use the keeper/slicing guide. I have cleaned it up and will be offering it to some lucky person at my next ... I like being able to see at a glance how much bread I have left. I don't need a slicing guide so I removed it. Easy to wash out, and it doesn't take much counter space. For the price you really can't go wrong. Rating:  - Makes decent keeper, but guide is marginal If you are looking for more of a bread cutting knife guide, don't buy this product. But otherwise, the plastic case keeps the bread adaquately. |
