Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Butterfly garden
This container for hatching butterflies looks great, but haven't used it yet since I'm waiting for the caterpillars to arrive. The cost seems high for such a simple item, and the caterpillars are extra. I imagine I will use it every year as a classroom teacher if it wears as well as it looks.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Product, Needs More Food
I am really enjoying this product. At the moment all 10 of my caterpillars have become pupas. I think, however that they either need to include more food in the little cups, should make the cups wider, or they should put food more in the center so their frass doesn't restrict their access to food as much (most of the frass accummulates around the edges of the cup). Before they changed, they were eatting some of the paper under the cap of the cup, which you need. Yet, they have all changed over and ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Neat Project but research butterflies first!
This was a neat project. We got all five catapillars and they did very well and got really big. The tricky part is transferring them to the butterfly house after they have formed cocoons. If any of them fall YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY hang them back up. Use a string or piece of tape. If you don't, they won't come out right. They cannot lay on the floor of the cage. The instructions said this was okay if one of them fell. This is not true. I read online to hang the one that fell back up, but it was too late. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Product!
I am using this product for the second year. My students love it. They are able to watch the butterflies grow from caterpillars. It is durable. It is washable with a hose. I raised 10 out of 10 butterflies successfully last year. This year we were able to see 4 out of 5 turn to butterflies. The only piece of advice I have for the set is to send for the butterflies right when you want them and not early. I sent the postcard in and told them I wanted the caterpillars in March. They sent them out ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good, with one caveat
The certificate that is included is not for free caterpillars. The cost is $5. I bought this item as a gift, and then after giving it as a gift, I found out that the recipient had to pay $5 to get the caterpillars with the certificate. That was very embarrassing to me. Kind of like getting a gift without the batteries . . .
