This straight-sided 2-1/2-quart pan can be used for sauces and, covered with its flat lid, for stews and casseroles. Shallow (3 inches) in relation to its capacity and diameter (8-3/8 inches), this pan, unlike conventionally proportioned saucepans, exposes lots of surface and is therefore ideal for reducing sauces or even stocks and broths. Though it's not nonstick, like some Calphalon cookware, the matte-finish pan is anodized for stick-resistance as well as hardness. Metal utensils won't harm the surface. The contoured, textured handle is cast stainless steel and resists heating on the stovetop; it's also triple-riveted for durability and balance. I purchased my pan about 3 years ago and it has become indispensible. I use it for almost everything, especially my caramel icing. Nothing sticks to this pan and on the off chance it does, a short soak and a few rubs of a Scotch-Brite pad and it's clean. LOVE THIS PAN!!!

I purchased the Simply Calphalon Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 2-Quart Saucepan with Cover a couple of months ago. That one was made in Toledo, Ohio. I paid two whole dollars more for that one, here at Amazon. I can't really say if it is the fact that that one is of the Simply Calphalon series that made it better or that it wasn't made in China. I've been using the Hard-Anodized 2.5 Qt shallow pan now for about a month. It's really great. I'm getting a couple more, one for a gift. It's a good size for all but the biggest meals/ingredients, and it cooks quickly at medium temps. I've cooked rice in a 3-4 times and it does wonders for 2 cups of rice. I've also made my own barbecue sauce in it. Easy to control cooking, easy to clean. On sale, it's hard to beat.

I first purchased the 12 quart Commercial Anodized and was very happy with it. This 2 1/2 quart size has worked wonderfully. I made rice in this pan at least 5 times and it turned out perfect. (Not Minute rice Either)... Mac & Cheese from scratch did NOT stick also made a small batch of fudge in this pan.....

Cleanup is a breeze and is oven safe. There is a slight color variation from the ones made in the USA.
