Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Experience intense strategic action while battling as the Meccaryns, the Sea Reapers or Kabuto: this island isn't big enough for the three of them! Kabuto is too large, too brutal and too hungry to co-exist with any other living creature. Kabuto shows the other two races that he's at the top of the food chain.

Amazon.com Review:
Giants: Citizen Kabuto is an odd little game. It takes place on a small island populated by short, big-headed people who speak with Scottish accents. They are called Smarties. Out to sea the evil Sea Reapers plot to retake the island for themselves, and they've created a 30-foot-tall monster named Kabuto to help them with their task. To this world come the Meccarins, a trio of humanlike spacemen who wear powered armor and have jetpacks. They arrive and befriend the Smarties against the Sea Reapers, and Kabuto breaks free from Sea Reaper control. All heck breaks loose.

Giants was developed by Planet Moon Studios, an offshoot of the wacky Shiny Entertainment studio that brought us Earthworm Jim and Sacrifice. It shows. The between-mission movies are hilarious and filmed inventively (using the game's graphics) throughout. You begin by portraying the Meccs as they puzzle out the new world and help people. Next you portray Delphi, a sexy sorceress Sea Reaper, and finally you get to walk in the massive footsteps of Kabuto himself. The game plays with arcade style; before you're done you'll have flown around and fired weapons, conjured spells, participated in a jet-ski race or two, and eaten just about everything that moves as the giant himself. It's dizzying, it's fun, and you'll never forget you played it. (Note: not for kids--strong language, nudity, violence, and adult humor throughout). --Bob Andrews

Pros:
  • 3 different sides
  • Brilliant use of style and humor
  • You get to be a giant!
Cons:
  • Multiplayer isn't satisfying
  • A few crash bugs exist

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Entertaining story, but nearly unplayable game.
This game is funny and enjoyable during the cutscenes, but cutscenes are not enough to make a game fun to play. As Meccaryns the game is fairly good. The combination of their jetpacks and weapons make them fun until the levels in which bases become involved, at which point your lack of ability to directly control more than one character makes it very frustrating, especially when you are need to leave the base for resources, but are being attacked from multiple unknown directions. In the other two ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Totally Unique
I loved this game! It was thoroughly engaging from beginning to end. It has just the right combination of strategy, action, and humor. I have to laugh at the earlier reviewer knocking the nudity: the only way to get the nudity is to download a hack that specifically says what it does. Besides it is only partial nudity and was only in the 'mermaid' section of the game and it is tastefully done.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome!
This game is fantastic. Fun, funny, and challenging. Not to easy that you finish it in one sitting. I've been playing for almost a month and it still has me interested. The only reason it is not 5 stars is that you cannot save save the game in the middle of missions. Some of the missions take an hour or more of playing and if you stop mid-way you have to start all over again the next time you play.
As for nudity, my version has the female characters in a bikini. I read that they changed the ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Too much nudity and crude language
This game has great, action-filled play. However, the mermaids, with their fully developed, unclothed, human bodies there for all to see is basically animated pornography. The crude language throughout makes the game a complete turnoff.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome
This game shows up what OS X is really capable of doing. It is very beautifully rendered. It works much better with a 32 MB Video card but works Ok with a 16 MB. It is very funny and exciting. I highly recommend this game. It is a great value for the money.
