Amazon.com Product Description:
The Toshiba SDV280 DVD/VCR Combo with DVD-R and MP3 Playback combines the ease of VHS with the quality and fun of DVD, even throwing MP3-playing capability into the mix.

Video Features
In addition to common DVDs and VHS tapes, this unit plays DVD-Video/CD/Video CDs, as well as DVD-R/CD-R/CD-RW discs made with a personal computer. Its ColorStream component video outputs deliver fantastic color images, and the VCR unit features a 4-head 19-micron system. A 10-bit 27mHz video digital-to-analog conversion with high-resolution filter also adds to color purity, detail, and resolution. When recording DVD to VHS, provided the DVD has not been encoded with the macrovision copy protection, this unit provides easy copying without color distortion. It also sports picture zoom, commercial skip, and many other standard features.

Audio Features
The SDV280 features 24-Bit/96kHz PCM audio compatibility, which improves the sound in many types of discs, producing warmer, more natural-sounding tones. It also sports coaxial and optical TosLink digital audio output, is MP3 audio compatible, and features VHS hi-fi stereo.

Other Features
This unit also includes icon-based onscreen displays, commercial skip, and picture zoom.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Product
Plays all kinds of discs except DVD-RW and DVD+R/RW. Its also copies your DVD to VCR if the disc isn't protected. I have tried a lot of other DVD-VCR combos and this is the best.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - SD-V280A - vcr issues?
I've had this unit for a few years and never had any problems with it...that is until recently..but only on the VCR side. When I record or playback a tape it's very fuzzy..I can hear it and sort of see it, but there's alot of snow. this happened awhile ago and somehow it fixed itself because i don't remember fixing it. now just the other day it started again..how do i fix this?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - High quality and very reliable
I've had this unit for several years and have played hundreds of DVD's and VHS tapes over that time period. I typically do not like combo units fully expecting one aspect to crap out rendering the dual functionality useless however this unit has been a great surprise. Have never had any difficulties with it and would consider another one when it does give out.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Solid Product - VG Quality
I have had this unit for over 2 years, and I haven't had a single problem. Video and audio quality is outstanding. It's been moved to a couple different setups (Family room system to bedroom) and works great in both locations.

Only issue I've had is that something in my setup won't allow the composite outputs to go into the TV for the VCR output, and have an S-VHS cable plugged into the same TV for DVD video output. The video signal is dark when I have both cables plugged in. My bedroom ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Unrealiable
The DVD player is horrible with getting stuck on DVDs and CDs when trying to view movies or pictures. Unless the CD is nearly new, it seems to get stuck. The pass through connection for coax leaves a horrible image. I am dissapointed and would never buy this!
