Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Technically disappointing - A 2nd tier PS2 racing game
I rented GTC Africa with a great deal of excitement and anticipation, and the game delivered, if only for a short while. The game developers had great subject matter (rally racing, with African rallies being some of the world's most difficult and exciting), many exotic locations (the whole African continent), and a ready-to-wear audience (all of us). Unfortunately, they did not fully capitalize on any of the above.

GAMEPLAY: Almost immediately I noted the sluggish steering. It seems to ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Worst Game Ever
This is the worst game I have played for the PS2. I'm glad I only rented it. First off, the graphics are terrible. There are better games graphically for the Playstation. Only one of the cars is a liscenced rally car. The rest of them would make pathetic rally cars. When I think of rally cars I think of Subaru Imprezas and Pugeut 206s not Pontaic Grand Prixs and Vibes. Another low point is the physics. Cars handle the same on snow as they do on grass and concrete. If you stray from the road ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - GTC Africa is a waste of a CD...
And I do mean CD. The game actually comes on a CD, not a DVD. This would be a great PlayStation game, but makes a terrible PS2 game. Don't let the graphics on the back of the box fool you, this game looks horrible. The cars in it aren't even real WRC rally cars. There's a Grand Am and Firebird Trans Am rally car... need I say more? Also in the lineup is a Ford Mustang and Pontiac Vibe GT. They did manage to license a couple of real rally cars, like the Subaru Imprezza WRX and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6, ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - GTC : Africa or GTA3 , which is better?
I bought this game a couple of weekes ago. GTC:africa has preety good graphics but the graphics could have been much better, for a ps2 game its graphics are just chicken scratch. There are some other flaws in this game as well , for example, all the tracks are too short ,esapically the first track. There are only 4 car makers Ford, Subaru, Pontaic and Mitsubishi each maker has only 2 cars a total of 8 cars and some seceret cars which makes the total 10 cars. The amount of cars in this game are very short ... Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - At a price like that, you can overlook some flaws
The very first thing you notice is that GTC:Africa is a visually great looking game. And for a lower price point game, GTC can hold its own against the Rallisport Challenges (XBox), Sega Rallys (Dreamcast) and WRCs (PS2). While GTC has the look, the control is a bit of a sticking point. What GTC has going for it is a more forgiving controls that give you time to correct steering errors. That's the good part so you won't go flying into an embankment with one wrong tap of the analog stick. On the down side ... Read More
