They were cheaply made, didn't need star power or much marketing since these movies pretty much sold themselves. The Initiation released in 1983 (though some listings have it as 1984) was one of the late entries of the slasher film. By this time all creativity was pretty much gone. The first 40 minutes are wasted with flashbacks and talking but the end in the shopping mall is decently done. The ending plot twist was a nice surpise but other than that this movie is strictly rental material.
