It's hard to believe that after The Wedding Singer Barrymore's not getting enough dopey, formulaic, predictable romantic comedies coming across her desk. The complete inability to buy Barrymore as unattractive, awkward, and unpopular ruins Never Been Kissed from the start, but it's doubtful a better actress could have saved it. The jokes fall flat, the romance between Barrymore and her English teacher (played by Michael Vartan) lacks chemistry, and the portrayals of high school and the newspaper newsroom is clichéd and uninspired (big surprise here: the director, Raja Gosnell, previously made Home Alone 3). Gosnell can't even give the gifted character actor, John C. Reilly, anything to do.  Rating:  - Great MovieIf you like happy ever after, this is a great movie. Drew Barrymore is a wonderful fit. Received it very quickly after ordering. Very satisfied. Rating: - I LoveTHIS MOVIE!!!!This movie resonated with me for many reasons, first of all it came out in 1999, also my senior year in high school. I was just like Josie, very awkward and hopelessly in love with my crush! I completely related to the plot and especially the ending when Josie writes about all the different types of people in high school and how true it is! You can not miss this! Rating: - Wonderful Romantic ComedyMichael Vartan is gorgeous and Drew Barrymore (all dressed up) look great together. The characters are funny. The plot is interesting. The ending is charming. Who could ask for more :) Jessica Alba's in this too, so young and pretty! Rating: - Never Been KissedI have never been a huge Drew Barrymore fan, but this movie changed my opinion of her somewhat. This movie gives a horrible message to any young person watching. the main character (Drew Barrymore, who is not sexy enough or talented enough to have a movie) is a reporter who sacrifices her career for popularity.
