A push button on top makes the toot toot sound. Not too loud. Works with all other Brio. Nice engine to get kids moving instead of letting the battery do the work for them. There is a little lite that shines when you push it and the horn you push. It is cute but not what I thought it was. My grandson likes the battery operated ones that go on their own.
