SLIK made a circular quick release plate that can secure the camera to the tripod pointing in any direction, making attaching your camera (once the SLIK quick release plate is attached) more intuitive than most other heads that have squared off or angled plates. For Medium or large format photographers there is a circular quick release with a 3/8 mount post available.Precision machining, polishing of all moving parts and an oversized, easy grip release knob for fine tension adjustments combine for smooth accurate operation.  Rating:  - Would be a five with a few additionsIt can take the weight and operates smoothly. After a very short period of usage I got comfortable with the controls. I would have liked two improvements 1. it does not have a level bubble - solved by buying a bubble that attached to the flash shoe 2. the base is not calibrated which helps in panaromic photos. I have used it for macro and telephoto shots as well as general landscape shots and am very satisified Rating: - Worth the money!!The picture does not do this product justice. The quick release plate is round, so it can be inserted at any rotation of the camera. It uses a latch and a release button so there is no accidental releasing your camera. The knobs are solid and tight. The large one tightens the ball, the smaller adjusts tension, making fine adjustments easier.
