Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Our Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor detects your baby's slightest movements, even while she sleeps. While it may seem that your baby is perfectly still when she is sleeping, she really isn't.

The under-the-mattress Sensor Pad detects your baby's slightest movements. If your baby goes absolutely still for 20 seconds, the Sensor Pad sends a signal to the Nursery Unit which sounds an alarm alerting you to check your baby. If you are out of the baby's room, the two portable Parents' Units (Sound Monitor) will pick up the alarm as well as other nursery sounds.

In addition, the Nursery Unit has an optional "tic" feature. If the Sensor Pad senses movement, the Nursery Unit will continuously tick. If it doesn't, the ticking will stop. The two Parents' Units give you the flexibility of always leaving one in your bedroom while moving the second unit to the room you are in while your baby is sleeping.

Your crib must have a hard flat surface. If it does not, just place a piece of masonite or a board under the mattress and place the Sensor Pad on top of the masonite and under the mattress. Be sure to place the correct side of the Sensor Pad facing up.

The Angelcare Movement Sensor will give you the peace of mind you won't get from just a sound monitor or even a video monitor. And, this monitor is an excellent value. It is 2 monitors in 1 so you don't have to purchase a sound monitor.

The Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor includes an Under-the-Mattress Sensor Pad, a Nursery Unit, 2 Parents' Units (sound monitor) and 3 AC adapters. It can also operate with 12 AAA batteries (not included).

Amazon.com Review:
Parents of preemies and infants at increased risk of SIDS lose a lot of sleep wondering if their babies are still breathing. Even parents of healthy babies experience this kind of anxiety. With its movement sensor pad, sound transmitter, sound lights, and movement detecting "ticking" sound, The Angelcare Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor can take away virtually all this anxiety.

Three Functions, Infinite Peace of Mind
The Angelcare Movement Sensor has three modes of use, enabling parents to use the sensor/sound monitor well into toddlerhood and beyond, if desired. With the Sound & Movement function, you can hear your baby's sounds, see sound lights, and hear a "tic" sound with every movement the baby makes. If no movement is detected, the "tic" will stop and after 20 seconds the alarm will sound. In the Tic Off mode you will not hear the ticking sound with every movement. However, you will still hear the baby's sounds and see sound lights, and your baby's movement is still being detected. An alarm will still sound if absolutely no movement is detected for 20 seconds. And finally, with Sound Only, the movement sensor is disabled, but you will still be able to hear your baby's sounds and see sound lights. In this mode, the Angelcare functions as a regular sound monitor. For many parents, just being able to hear the sighs and squeaks of the newest member of the family is reassurance enough. For those who need more input, for whatever reason, the additional sensory features of the Angelcare can be lifesaving.

How the Angelcare Movement Sensor Works
A sensor pad is placed under the center of baby's crib mattress on a flat, hard surface. The sensor pad cord passes underneath the mattress entirely, exiting the crib in the corner. It is then plugged into the jack of the nursery unit transmitter. The nursery unit can be plugged into an electrical outlet or it can operate with four AAA batteries. The same goes for the parents' unit receivers (two parents' units included). Turn the parents' units on by selecting either channel A or B. Make sure they're set to the same channel as the nursery unit. Set the nursery unit to the desired mode (Sound & Movement, Tic Off, or Sound Only). You may leave one parents' unit in your bedroom and carry the other with you as you move about the house and yard. Now, depending on the function you've selected, you'll be able to keep track of your baby's every sound and movement.

Sound Lights
Indicator lights on an LED sound bar (on the parents' unit) allow you to "see" your baby's sounds if background noises prevent you from hearing baby. As baby's sounds get louder, more lights illuminate.

Optional "Tic" Feature
When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement, it will continuously tick with every movement your baby makes. If no movement is detected by the sensor pad beneath baby's mattress, the ticking will stop.

Movement Indicator Light
The movement indicator light is located only on the nursery unit. When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement or Tic Off, the movement indicator light will flash green with baby's every movement. The flashing green light will let you know that movement is being detected, which will allow you to check on a sleeping baby in the dark.

False Alarms
False alarms are possible with the Angelcare Movement Sensor, especially if instructions have not been followed to a "t". Make sure to turn off the nursery unit after you've taken baby out of the crib. Also, once baby starts being more mobile, she may roll right off the sensor pad area of the mattress. A troubleshooting guide in the instruction manual gives other solutions to false alarms.

Amazon.com:
For parents of preemies and babies at greater risk of developing SIDS, the Angelcare Movement Sensor is a lifesaver—literally. A sensor pad goes under baby's mattress and detects baby's slightest movements, even if he is sleeping soundly. If the sensor does not pick up any movement for 20 seconds, an alarm sounds over the two portable receivers and alerts parents. Along with the sensor is a traditional baby monitor that transmits all sound from the nursery to the two receivers. The receivers have a range of up to 200 feet and have light indicators that correspond with the noise level. The monitor and receivers have two channels and low battery indicator lights. Each unit can operate either by four "AAA" batteries or AC adapter (two included). This full-spectrum monitoring system is the recipient of numerous awards and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - better than any other monitor
We bought this Angelcare movement sensor monitor to use for our fifth child who was born premature. It is the best thing out there for providing peace of mind for the parents. With our other children we just had a regular monitor and I can tell you this is so much better. We tested it, it really does work, and it is so definitely worth it. I know some parents wrote in complaining about the static and some of those other minor complaints, but really you get that with all monitors just like with ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Hoped for a better product
I try to be an educated buyer and when we were shopping around for baby monitors, read many reviews and felt this would meet our needs. (sigh)

But unfortunately after using it for a couple of months I have given up on the "bee noise". It has serious issues with static and wish it had more channels to work with, due to some signal interference. Do like the 2 monitor option and the pad, but I would recommend you go with the deluxe option...wait for a sale and make the effort on the extra ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Saved another life
My little one is 8.5 months old and my situation was pretty much the same as the writer's above.

It was about 7:30PM my wife and I were down stairs talking when all of a sudden the SINGLE warning BEEP went off. We could not believe that it was the baby alarm, so we paused for a second then the main alarm went off, we dropped everything and ran up stairs and YES the baby's face was against the wall of the PACK AND PLAY sleeper!! She "appeared" to not be breathing or moving, but this situation ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It does what it promises
My baby was suffering from acid reflux when I bought this in a panic. She started to roll onto her side at 3 weeks and had been sleeping like that ever since but I wanted to put her on her tummy to sleep sometimes so she wouldn't feel like she was drowning all the time. I was terrified that she would die from SIDS or suffocate. I'm sort of a paranoid type A person so I realize that she would probably be fine but didn't want to take my chances. The monitor works perfectly. The only thing I don't like is how ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent Product
We bought this product because a family member recommended it and I am glad we did. It's scary at first getting used to it and making sure that you turn the monitor off when you pick up your baby otherwise it will start beeping. It's nice to know that it will detect if there isn't any movement for 15 seconds so you can check on you little one. I would recommend to anyone.
