Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
A CD is always more compelling when you know it's lifted from the artist's autobiography, and that's certainly the case with Confession, Usher's first record since 2001's 8701. The Atlanta singer's string of hits over the past decade have been decidedly PG-13 rated, almost veering towards teen pop, but he's changed all that on this co-produced offering, which he claims is "the real him." It would be too simplistic to just brand this record a break-up record, chronicling his public split with TLC's Rozonda "Chili" Thomas; it is that, but so much more. It would be more accurate to call this Usher's coming of age record, bridging the gap from boy to man, as he navigates the emotional fallout from the disintegration of his relationship, and the events that led up to it--real or imagined. But other than a guilty conscience, it seems unclear why Usher feels compelled to disgorge his secret life, as he documents his infidelities, transgressions, and emotional perfidy in the album's prodigious seventeen songs that range from insinuating sultry R&B grooves to the decidedly crunky "Yeah," which pairs an insistent keyboard romp with Lil' Jon's assertive beats and Ludacris' rather humid rhymes. This tracks shines all the more since it's the only club track, but you find yourself pining for more, since most of the other songs tend to get bogged down in his lush, feverish balladry. That's not a bad thing, but the disc would have been better served by a few more muscular tracks. --Jaan Uhelszki

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Though I disagree with this music, I'd fight to the death for your right to listen to it!
First thing's first, i don't like Usher and I never did. I wouldn't dislike him so much if he wasn't played everywhere and hailed as a god by women everywhere.

However, I do believe that everyone has the freedom to listen to whatever they want. I'm sick of reading reviews saying that this is garbage and then telling people what they "should" listen to. It is obvious that those who listen to Usher have a certain taste in music and your petty little review isn't going to give them a ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good Usher
My sister gave this to me for my birthday last year and i'm not unhappy that I was exposed to it. Before I got into rap music this was my absolute favourite and to this day I still am a big fan of it. My favourite song has to be Superstar but songs like Confessions, Confessions Part 2, Bad Girl, Yeah!, Simple Things etc are great. Well like I said before now i'm mainly a rap fan but I can't bag this guy for singing in his songs.

If you like R & B than this is a good album for your collection. ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - his best CD so far
Usher has always been my favorite R&B artist because I really believe he produces quality music. Songs such as "U Got It Bad", "My Way", and "U Make Me Wanna" really got me to like his music. I have never owned any of his CDs. So when "Confessions" came out I decided to purchase it. This CD is pretty good. Mostly all the songs have nice beats. When I heard "Burn" on the radio thats when I decided to buy this CD because it sounded really nice. I think the best songs on the album were:
Yeah - clubbanger, ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I LOVE THIS CD
Usher has a good voice, I listened to every song on this album, and enjoyed 100% of them. My favorite track on Usher's Confessions album is "Yeah". When I bought it I couldn't stop hearin' it.I Just fall in love with this CD.I love it all the time.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nice One Usher!
This album is truly the marketer for Usher. I can honestly say that I listened to every song on this album, and enjoyed 98% of them (and this coming from a person who is not an R&B fan). A lot of people may "knock" Usher for his lack of originality in dancing, however the brother has to make a living ya'll. I enjoyed the fact that Usher had variation on this album. It wasn't your typical "bump and grind" track burner. He brought in an array of styles and flavor. Hell, it should be labeled as a classic. Excellent! ... Read More
