Amazon.com Product Description:
Panasonic's SC-EN7 executive microsystem looks as good as it sounds. The CD-based SC-EN7's accent on design and convenience is expressed through its gentle-recline, motorized CD tray and straightforward performance. Features include random, program, repeat CD playback, and a digital-synthesized FM/AM tuner with 30-preset (15 FM, 15 AM) memory. A backlit LCD makes it easy to read program and station information.

The CD player offers CD-R/CD-RW compatibility, the capability to play MP3 digital audio, and Panasonic's MASH one-bit digital-to-analog converter for optimal sound reproduction. Sound enhancements include four equalizer settings (bass, clear, soft, and vocal) and Panasonic's Live Virtualizer, which energizes sounds in the vocal and midfrequency ranges.

The tuner offers autotuning to the 30 most-available stations, and you can use the convenient programmable timer to wake yourself up to a favorite CD or radio station, or merely make sure you never miss an important broadcast.

The SC-EN7 has a headphone jack and an auxiliary minijack input for connecting an MP3 player. It also offers a clock with a wakeup timer.

What's in the Box
SC-EN7 microsystem, remote control, 2 AA batteries, and printed operating instructions. It's backed by a 1-year limited warranty.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - This one's a winner @ Linens & Things for $49.99
I got a gift card for Linens and Things and just picked up the Panasonic SC-EN7 on clearance sale for $49.99. I had no problems with reception (though I am in NY) and this replaced a clunky old boom box in my kitchen. I fiddled with the settings a bit and thought that it sounded quite good. I took the covers off the speakers and it was even better. I popped in an MP3 cd with 150 songs on it and it took a couple of seconds to read the disc but played fine. After reading the reviews (I wonder what ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Very Poor FM Reception; Poor Audio Quality
This Panasonic SC-EN7 was returned after one day's use due to very poor FM reception with the whip antenna and poor audio quality. Mid range audio was muddy, high range and low range were barely acceptable using the equalizer. To top it all off, it looks like a tin can on my shelf, in my humble opinion. Not all microsystems need be like this. I purchased another after I returned this one, and I like it very much. You may see it in my other review if you are interested.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I Give It An Enthusiastic Thumbs Up For What It Is...
I wanted a little supplementary system for my home office---I wasn't expecting much, sort of a glorified boombox. Which is what this is---but I must say, for having spent only $100 bucks, this little system knocked my socks off. I have been playing some acoustic and country music, which pretty much sounds good on anything because it is so well recorded. But today I put it through its paces with some pretty cutting edge rock and I was pleasantly surprised. Granted, it's not a high-end system, but ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good bang for the buck.
I read the scattered negative reviews on this item here and elsewhere and was frankly undecided about this item. It was intended to replace an aging Sony Boom Box in my work office. I set the thing up and was horrified to find that the sound quality was aweful. After a few moments of reflection I realized it was user error! Whoops! I had reverse-wired the speakers. (they are hard wired into the speakers and you have to match them to the back of the unit. Not the most intuitive layout for the connections, ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - good design for the price
Good design and good look for the price. JVC products at similar price range sound more natural in the mid-range. This panasonic is too cold in the balance for classical music. Rap may be OK.
