Hailing from Polk's reborn Monitor series--which ushered in the modern loudspeaker era in the mid-1970s--the sub combines quality construction with high-end performance, all for a price that won't break the bank. The PSW10 is equipped with a 10-inch polymer-composite cone driver that creates tight, musical bass, along with state-of-the-art laser-based Klippel measurement technology to perfectly center the voice coil within the magnetic field. The Klippel technology improves the linearity of the frequencies to ensure a deep, precise sound for everything from action-movie explosions to cello musical passages. Adding to the quality is the non-resonant medium-density fiberboard (MDF) enclosure, the 0.75-inch baffles, and the internal bracing, all of which contribute to the sub's superior detail, accuracy, and musicality. Meanwhile, the PSW10's built-in high-current amplifier (50 watts RMS, 100 watts dynamic) supplies all the power you need for big bass, while the adjustable low-pass crossover, phase switch, and volume control make it easy to blend your sub's output with your front and rear speakers. The sub even includes automatic signal-sensing circuitry, meaning it knows when to turn itself on and off. Though the PSW10 will work with any speakers, the sub specifically designed to complement the clean, stylish look and robust sounds of Polk's entire Monitor speaker line. The black oak finish is particularly compelling, with a style that fits seamlessly with most modern furnishings. Connectivity stems from the line- and speaker-level inputs, along with the unfiltered LFE input. The combined options make it easy to connect the PSW10 with any receiver or amplifier. And movie fans will delight in the magnetic shielding, which protects nearby TVs and video monitors from video distortion. Measuring 14 by 14.38 by 16.12 inches (W x H x D) and backed by a five-year warranty on the speaker and a three-year warranty on the internal amp, the PSW10 makes a great introduction to powerful home theater sound. ![]() Rating: - Great ValueI have been in the market for a subwoofer for quite a while, and after reviewing and following the prices, this was the best value. The sound so far has been outstanding and it fit in well with the rest of my Polk surround sound speakers in our media room. Rating: - Not a sub for us audiophiles, but good for $100I bought this on sale at amazon for 108 bucks. I would NOT have bought it if I had not used a 100 dollar gift certificate I received for Christmas. This subwoofer does improve my sound system by a noticeable margin. I have two Klipsh tower speakers and two yamaha bookshelves in the back. The four together put out loads of bass that fills my apartment. This subwoofer however does increase the low range. If you have big towers like I do, use the high cut for sure, as it clarifies ... Read More Rating: - Great powered sub for a smaller spaceThis powered subwoofer will definitely rock your world in a small den or viewing room, especially if your amp has LFE capability. Setup is straightforward, and the instructions are quite clear. Rating: - A little boomy and 10 minute hum after shutting off, but great for the money! If you turn the volume up on this where you can really tell it's there, it gets boomy while watching things with background music, such as sportscenter. Truth be told, I have the bass volume set a little high due to gaming. Also, with a $20 Subwoofer Cable, it has the "hum" that people complain about. The situation is this, when my receiver is on standby and the sub has no signal, it emits a low humming noise. I have it on the "Auto" power setting, and the hum shuts off within 10 ... Read More Rating: - Great subI like Polk and have other Polk products that have been very good over the last 10 years. A friend of mine has experienced very good honouring of the warranty (in NZ!). Their customer service is good. I bought PSW10 off Amazon (April 08) whilst holidaying in the States; then returned to India with it as baggage. I was half expecting something to go wrong: like broken in transit/seized by the govt/blow up on arrival. Nothing bad happened. But I found it was 110V and therefore ... Read More |
