The scale is equipped with four optimally placed single-strain gauges and a temperature-compensated load cell. In layman's terms, this means the scale is precise to within 0.1 of an ounce, so you needn't worry about your mail being rejected because of insufficient postage. In addition, the weighing platform, which measures 5.5 by 5 inches and is made of fine-textured, high-impact ABS plastic, sports a fold-up top for weighing oversized items, such as large flat envelopes or mailing tubes. Other conveniences include an easy-to-read seven-segment LCD display, a Tare function that lets you re-set the "zero" weight (great for weighing loose items in a container without counting the container itself), mechanical overload protection should you weigh an item that exceeds 5 pounds, and a five-minute auto-off function that preserves power. Plus, you can power the scale via either the included AC adapter or a separately sold 9-volt battery. The latter option is great for business professionals who travel frequently to trade shows and other on-the-go locations. The PS50 scale, which features a warm-up time of one minute and a minimum weight of 0.1 ounce, is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor. ![]() Rating: - Same as the Post OfficeThis is the same model that the post office would sell you - only for $10.00 more! Rating: - Lasts only a few months!I bought this scale in January... by May it was already giving erroneous weights... turn it on, it gives you a reading of 2oz, now 2.1, now 1.5 hmmm... there is nothing on it! Turn it off and start again... maybe by the tenth time it will read 0 so you can actually weigh your item... Hitting tare doesn't help either. Very bad quality! Rating: - Much Better Than Mechanical Scale! My wife has many craft hobbies and likes to sell things on EBay and other internet forums. This scale is perfect and much easier to use than a mechanical scale. Granted, it is more expensive than a mechanical scale, but you will be far less likely to make postage errors. As long as you don't need to weigh something that is more than 5 lbs, this scale is perfect. Rating: - Excellent scale for small packagesI mail a lot of small packages that weight in the range of 3 to 10 ounces. I usually cannot get to the post office during their regular business hours. Therefore, I need an accurate scale to determine postage so I can put the packages in a mail box. I bought a different scale on eBay for about $20. That scale died after about a week. Rather than waste more money, I decided to buy this regulation postal scale from Amazon. I figured that if it died, at least Amazon is great about returns so I ... Read More Rating: - The Postal Scalewhen I first hooked up the scale it only registered in grams and kilos, not ounces and pounds. I emailed the company and they did not respond for 2 weeks. Very unprofessional to me. In the interim I figured it out and the scale works fine except that when standing for a while (plugged in) it will resister 1 or 2 ounces with nothing on it. I'm thinking of getting another one directly from the post office. Allan Palmer |
