As others have said the ring had to be manhandled to get it to fit right. I was afraid the whole thing would be kind of flimsy but, it actually pretty well maid. We used it a few times now and fires burn well and complete. We did place a small amount of sand in the bottom as directed in the instructions. The concrete under the pit got a warm but, not too hot. The cutouts are cool and always get comments from guests sitting around the fire; they also provide light and heat. The unit has held up well being left outside and uncovered. Water will collect if you don't cover or drill small drain hole in dished center. High quality materials and workmanship. Excellent design.
