The reeds of Diatonic Harmonicas produce the notes of the scale to which they are tuned. For example, a diatonic harmonica tuned to the key of C would produce the natural notes of the C scale without sharps and flats (picture the white keys on a piano, without the black keys).  Rating: - A pretty good harmonica for 6 bucksAhhh...the Hohner Pocket Pal. My first harmonica. For $6, this little guy turned out to be well worth it. I was expecting a terrible sound and design coupled with cheap plastic reeds and a cheaper plastic body. This harmonica exceeded expectations and, as it turns out, sounds pretty good. The design is good; it's a combination of a plastic body with metal overlays. The reeds are actually pretty darn good for $6, at least for 4 months or so.
