It's always a good idea to try something before you buy it, especially if you are new to it. Sun also sells a downloadable version of StarOffice 8 at $69.99. PDF export is particularly cool (for resumes, for instance), and the overall functionality is ever closer to that of Office - this edition has a Format Painter (my favorite feature) and a better Pivot Table, and Impress looks just like Microsoft Office ... among lots of other improvements. Reading and writing MS Office docs is seamless. And did I mention ... no more viruses!? |
