As she was starting potty training, she would immediately reach down to grab the toilet seat and plus was unstable without a potty seat. The reviewers who gave a poor review for fit and pinching are not using it correctly. We have never had this problem. Also, I put it on my toilet, and put a bit of weight on it, and it bowed easily, so I was very worried about putting my child on it. I liked the fact that there are handles so that she doesn't have to hold on to the toilet, and it fits ALL toilets, even the oval ones. There's a picture of the proper use on the front of the box...position the seat on the front of the toilet so that the "lip" of the seat rests against the front of the toilet.
