I read all the reviews first, and I was a bit concerned it would be hard to open and it may not be worth buying. The door may be a little uneasy to open, but this is the point, so whatever or whoever you do not want to open does not do it easily. My son in a month could figure out how to open the lock. This locking device is much better as it requires two fingers and a slide mechanism. In short my son needs to grow up atleast 4-5 years to open this gate :). He is 16 months now. This gate is very easy to install as well.
