Editorial Review: Product Description: Planon introduces the DocuPen RC800 color handheld scanner - the latest technology breakthrough from the R&D efforts. Planon has been able to achieve full color 24 bit scanning in a remarkably compact and light form that provides you with the ultimate convenience. The RC800 is capable of storing 100s of pages into memory and it takes just seconds to scan a page. Choose the mode you want to scan: black and white, standard color or high 24bit color and the resolution from 100 to 400 dpi. Now you can scan your letters, color documents, pictures and bring them into Paperport software (included with the Docupen). The DocuPen is different from other pen sized scanners in that it scans a full page width and therefore scans the entire page including text and graphics in as little as 4 seconds. Other handheld and pen scanners only scan single lines of text or records handwriting and some scanners need to be attached to your computer whereas the Docupen overcomes these limitations. The need for convenient out of office scanning is enormous but has not been satisfied because the products to date did not fulfill that need adequately. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Just awful! It's terrible. If I knew how it would be I would not have bought it. Unacceptable even if it were a lot cheaper! I didn't expect much quality for a scanner this size, but the image quality is so low that documents are unreadable sometimes. Scan speed is slow, and you have to wait for it to store the scan in memory (about 15-20 seconds per full-color page) before scanning another page. Forget about the internal memory, which can barely hold 2 full-page color scans, you have ... I have warned you all about my experience the decision is yours. Rating: - Works great, after an ordeal! When I first got my RC800, I was underwhelmed by the build quality--it seems cheap and flimsy, with terrible fit and finish. Still, it seems to hold up fine under use, and it hasn't broken yet. At first, I had a terrible time using this thing--my scans were coming out crooked, the "Too Fast" light blinked all the time, and the scans would finish prematurely, before the entire page had been scanned in. The resulting scans were unusable, and I almost returned the scanner. Recalibrating ... Read More Rating: - Rip Off BewareThis is by far the worst product I have ever purchased. The positive reviews HAVE to be planted by the company. There is absolutely no way someone can have a positive experience with this crappy device. Rating: - I LOVE THIS THING!My job requires me to be a "road warrior," traveling all over the region doing what I do. This wonderful gadget allows me to scan paperwork in full color on the go while taking up minimal space in my "go bag." Learning how to swipe the scan straight took me a few tries but once I got it down, an innocent bystander wouldn't know I didn't run the scan through a flatbed scanner. Best of all, despite what it says, this unit IS MAC COMPATIBLE and has expandable memory through a micro SD card. If you need a scanner on ... Read More |
