With this front-mounted seat you get to see what the child sees, and to have a running dialogue with him. I do not experience any of the difficulty in pedaling that others have noted, and I am even able to stand most of the way up to pedal up hills (I am 5'-10" tall and I have the seat mounted on a Giant Rincon mountain bike). My one (minor) complaint is that I wish the back of the seat came up a little higher - my son is always trying to lean his head back into my chest as we are riding - perhaps a removeable head rest or something.
