 Rating: - Great purchaseI bought this depthfinder for a recent flyout fishing trip to Canada and was extremely happy with the unit's performance. The setup and operation is very straightforward and it worked well the entire trip (4 10+ hour days) and ended with plenty of battery life to spare (uses 8 AA batteries). It provided accurate bottom readings, showed weed beds, and our fishing success defintely increased when fish were visible on the screen. My only suggestion for travelers would be to buy some sort of small ... Read More Rating: - Works great!I needed a depth sounder for a small sailboat but I didn't have an electrical system on board. This fish finder fit the bill perfectly. I have had it out 3 or 4 times and I have had it on for 10 to 12 hours. I am still using my first set of batteries. This kit uses standard components and can be converted later for a permanent installation if I ever upgrade my electrical system. The battery compartment is water tight and held closed with screws.
