Yesterday the hindge on the lid snapped and a piece of it went flying off. My husband and I heard it snap all the way from another room so we weren't even using it at the time. Since the hindge just snapped while it was not being opened or closed and the trashcan has only received the normal house hold useage I would say that it is a design flaw. The included two plastic buckets hold a lot of bottles and papers. The lid seals in the odor nicely. It is very sanitary and looks good sitting in my kitchen. My kids love the recycle now because of the sensor opening feature. It is like a new toy for them. I will order the AC adaptor so that no more battery is wasted. I highly recommend this item. Rating:  - Worst Purchase EVERLet me just start by saying it is not white, it's OFF WHITE, but if it worked for more than 5 minutes, I could probably let that go. We put the batteries in, and for a five glorious minutes, it worked exactly as described! At minute 6, it became temperamental about when in would open and would often make a noise as if to attempt to open (or close), but wouldn't.
