Editorial Review: Product Description: The new PA12TOY Lexus/Toyota/Scion iPod interface adapter provides direct connection for an iPod and an optional audio source such as satellite radio, DVD, or video game system. Both the iPod and the additional audio source can be selected from the factory radioâ??s front panel. The interface adapter connects the iPod to your factory Toyota or Scion radio as if it were a CD changer, allowing direct selection of iPod playlists through the radioâ??s preset (or disc) buttons and is compatible with all iPod models featuring the dock connector, including the iPod nano and 5G iPod video. The PA12TOY now adds artist and title display for text compatible Toyota/Scion radios. These radios will have a button marked "TEXT". The PA12 series iPod interfaces have 3 operating modes available- Playlist, Direct, or Hybrid. In Playlist mode the controls on the radio will operate the iPod only, and the iPod's click wheel is locked out for safety while driving. In the Direct mode the iPod's controls are used to navigate through the iPod's menus and select songs, artists, playlists, etc. and the factory radio controls will provide volume/tone control only. The Hybrid operates like Playlist mode but the iPod controls are unlocked. All modes still charge the iPod while connected, for up to one hour to prevent over-charging. Installed in 15 minutes (pry out the climate control panel, remove four bolts, slide out radio and plug in the new cables). Works great in hybrid mode (lets you use the factory CD player controls or the IPOD's controls to control the IPOD). Text display works fine with the Tacoma stereo. I got this USA Spec PA12TOY ipod adapter for my 2008 Toyota Tacoma with 6 CD changer factory stereo (not JBL). Installation was a breeze (simple plug & play). I popped out the stereo, where there is an empty plug waiting on the back side. A cable from the USA Spec plugs into the empty plug of the radio.
