Editorial Review: Product Description: Star Trek: Conquest is a single-player game of galactic conquest featuring a blend of strategy and action set in The Next Generation era. Players take control of Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Dominion, and Breen forces and lead them in a campaign to control the galaxy, one planet at a time. Players must build and manage their growing empires in turn-based strategy, and then engage in all out starship combat in real-time action. Strategically, players must effectively manage their limited resources to expand their empire. Players can decide how to best achieve objectives by managing fleets, admirals, building support structures, researching technology and engaging enemies in combat. Once battle is initiated, the game switches to a ship level tactical view allowing players to take direct command of their ships and engage in real-time combat. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Fun, But Very Flawed - It's Empire or MOO for KidsThis game is easy to learn and fun to play. After a few hours, it turns into a fancy game of Tic-Tac-Toe. As a big fan of Interstel's Empire and Master of Orion I and II, I was disappointed There are 3 fundamental problems with this game: 1) You can only have 3 fleets, which are basically the same thing as units. Can you imagine playing Empire or MOO with only 3 units for the entire game? It's insane! As soon as your fleet leaves to conquer a planet, the enemy ... It isn't that dynamic or cutting-edge but its relatively easy to pick up and play. The game manual is a bit vague (more so then usual for a turn-based game) so its not immediately clear what the special weapons do. If I had to do it again, I would buy it, but I would probably try to find a cheaper copy. Rating: - Little Let DownI was so excited about getting this game since it's precursor Star Trek: Encounters was so awesome! Unfortunately there are fewer ships, only two dimensions, and fewer options than "Encounters." Yet is has so much potential. If they added the upper and lower planes of motion and more freedom as to number of fleets, ships, and movement I would have given it five stars. Rating: - Prepare for battle!Star Trek Conquest is what many board game players would call a beer and pretzel game. Like RISK or Axis & Allies the game has been streamlined and made easy to play. Things move swiftly and sometimes you find yourself ending your turn without doing a thing. I played one campaign as the Klingon Empire and really enjoyed it. The game is simple. You start out with one planet and must expand your power over neighboring systems to increase your wealth and develop new technology. Yet you only ... Read More Rating: - Review Of Star Trek: ConquestThis is an enjoyable game once you get the hang of it. At first I thought it was boring, then the more I played it, the better it became. There are a few things that I feel they could have done to improve the game. The first thing the developers could have done to improve the game would be to include more races to play as in the "Campaign" section of the game, i.e. the Borg, the Xindi, etc. A second improvement would be to have the game play a little bit more like the PC game Star Trek Armada, ...
