 Rating:  - BEWARE - TIHS WILL EXTEND AN EXISTING AGREEMENTI learned this the hard way so I wanted to let others know. If you already have DirecTV service and purchase new equipment, your service contract will be extended by 2 years on the date you activate the new equipment. Customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. Rating: - It's failing apart, bad installationI can't believe what a bad install job I found on the roof when I just went up there. There were 3 loose bolts, and at least one bolt was missing. The entire dish is so loose it's about to fall off the roof. I'd fix it myself, but a bolt is missing. I called DirecTV so they can come out of fix this terrible installation, and they want $80 for it! That's outrageuous! You'd think they would want to fix something that was their fault to begin with. What a nightmare, freeze ups (two or three a day), broken up picture, stuttering sound, the whole mess. I finally sent both boxes back and re-installed my TIVO based receivers. Fast forward a year, I decided to try again mainly because of the many many new HD channels on Directv (NFL in HD! ummmmmmmmm). Don't take the plunge!!On paper this is a great unit, however after roughly 4 years as a DTV Tivo user, I decided to take DTV up on their offer to upgrade to the HR21 series. Wow, what a huge mistake! This machine was so horrific, I honestly don't know where to begin. In theory outside of it's inability to perform wishlist autorecords (only tivo users know what I'm talking about), it should be a slight improvement to the sd tivo units, however it doesn't do what a DVR is supposed to do. What am I referring to? ... Read More Rating: - You have no idea what you're getting yourself into...Unit no longer turns on after 5 DAYS. SWEET. They sent me a new one with parts missing from the box, and it's 0-1 when trying to record shows with the DVR function. I guess they want the broken one back, but forgot to send me the shipping labels, shipping instructions, installation instructions, you know... anything useful you'd need. This company is an absolute joke. if you don't believe me, do some research. |
