He had no problem with this bigger seat. It has more room for him to move around, and does not look he is cramped. We used this seat for the first time on a 8-hour drive trip. I love this carseat very much, but unfortunately am returning it only because my son's a bit on the larger side, and the buckle digs into his thighs. The rest of the carseat is amazing, extremely easy to use, well built, and looks otherwise very comfortable. If it weren't for the buckle, I'd give it 5 stars.
