These units have that in a small, attractive looking device for an inexpesive price. Did not experience any interference or short battery life (you can also use your own AAA batteries if you want). We all know that unless you purchase a commercial device the range will always be subject. We enjoy the units and they are great for what we use them for, in the woods, walking, camping etc... And the product is nice features, works good in reception, but the FRS range is only about a half mile. Because the FCC's rules, the range of FRS radios is typically limited to a half mile or less.(to get "UP" to 18 miles you need a license from the FCC to use them). Can heard also those using hi channels or GMRS on scan clearly. Batteries can use an hour while in use. Overall a good value. Over water and some land distance was down to 1/2 mile approximately and very static. Upon purchase I charged the batteries as stated in instructions and only received about 4 hrs worth of use and no talking during that time. Camping this weekend one radio battery went dead in less than one hour and this is after a full charge the day before. For the price you can't go wrong, for the quality well.... it's up to you!
