The speaker phone is also surprisingly good. It would be nice to be able to use a hand set to record the outgoing messages on the answering machine. Using the speaker phone, despite the quality, allows more background noise on the messages than I would like. I did a lot of research in this category of phones, and I took a chance on this as there were no reviews online. This is replacing a Panasonic 2 line phone system, and while Panasonic makes a great phone, their new version has tiny screens on the handsets, so you can't read the caller ID.
