My 5 changer CD broke during a recent move so I decied to buy this model since it can play 5 disks of music or upscale DVD's. I get the best of both worlds. I still plan to buy a Blue Ray player in the future. Once I do, I will still get use out of this device as it will remain as my CD player for music. Rating: - Give your old DVDs a new lease on life.I purchased this DVD player to replace an outdated (probably produced around 1998) Sony Progressive Scan DVD player that still got the job done but was lacking in many areas (stopped playing burned CDs). I cannot say how happy I am with this purchase. First and foremost, the picture is absolutely beautiful. Read More Rating:  - Cannot Play International DVDsThe DVD is ok but does not allow to play Mexican DVDs, even when they are not copyrighted to begin with. I called Sony support and they said that all their DVD have region restriction enforced. They indicated that there are 6 regions in the world, and if I need to play DVDs from any of them, I need to buy Sony DVD player for each one of them. Read More Rating:  - Good picture lacking some featuresAs my first upsampling DVD player this unit has an excellent picture and seems to be able to play any DVD we feed it. Unfortunately the lack of lighted buttons on the front panel or the remote makes operating this unit in the dim light of a viewing room difficult.
