Legendary singer songwriter Donna Summer is back with her first studio album in 17 years. In the thirty plus years that Donna Summer has been making music she has never confined her artistry to just one genre. Although Donna is, and will always be, "The Queen Of Disco" to many fans, her hits have spanned multiple musical genres from Rock to R&B to Inspirational and of course, Dance. Summer helped to define the 70's pop music generation and Crayons has all the characteristics that made Donna an icon. Containing a potent mix of the up-tempo tunes and ballads, the new album showcases incredible new material that is written by Donna (who wrote or co-wrote the majority of her hits of the 70's and 80's). Working with Donna were renowned writers and producers including: Greg Kurstin (Lilly Allen, Pink), Danielle Brisebois (Natasha Bedingfield, New Radicals), JR Rotem (Sean Kingston, Rihanna), Evan Bogart (co-writer of Rihanna's smash "SOS" and the son of legendary record executive, Casablanca Records founder and Donna's mentor, Neil Bogart), and Lester Mendez (Shakira, Santana). ![]() Rating: - It's been TOO Long!I found out about this new CD (her first in 17 years!) by accident. I ordered it...and have just about worn it out already. There are 12 tracks on this CD, and I enjoyed every one of them--something that is very rare for the garbage that is being released under the guise of music these days. The CD starts off with four upbeat (and very danceable) tunes: Stamp Your Feet, Mr. Music, Crayons, and The Queen is Back. The Queen is Back is Donna's self-parody. I did a little reading ... It's the new sound! Anyway, I still loved the CD! Donna is still the disco diva! Her voice is terrific!...even at her age! WOW! Love you Donna! Rating: - Her Best Album Since...Her Best recording Since the Giorgio Moroder Years (1974-1980). Good News No Timbaland around, Madonna can go swallow again her Lollipops. Rating: - Yes, the Queen is BACKYes, the Queen is back. Donna Summer's latest project Crayons is a gem from start to finish. With all new material penned by Donna, this music will make you groove, smile and reflect on your life. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed an album as much as I have Crayons. Thank you Donna. The Queen is back indeed! Rating: - Donna summer's CRAYONS...are very colorful and easy to listen to!!!Donna Summer is probably my favorite female vocalist EVER!!! She always pleases an audience live, and also pleases my ears when I listen to her at home!! I like every song on the album...but I feel that each song works better individually. It's still an excellent album...but for me...listening to each song from top to bottom makes me want to change the order of the songs...or just add two or three more songs to even out the concept of the album. Let's talk about the songs. The best ... Read More |
