With its direct, open production and moving themes, Seeing Things is the continuation of Rick's groundbreaking work and sheds new light on Jakob as a singer and songwriter. Jakob is best known as the lead singer and songwriter of the rock band The Wallflowers as well as being the youngest of four children born to singer-songwriter Bob Dylan and ex-wife Sara Dylan. ![]() Rating: - Great AlbumThis album is very good. If you like the Wallflowers as a group, you will like this album. Some of his songs even remind me of his father's old music. Rating: - Bravo!Hands down, my favorite album of the year in the Singer-Songwriter genre. Wonderful melodies and lyrics, great singing, great playing, wonderful minimalist production by Rick Rubin---a total gem of a CD! Plus I love every tune on the CD. Probably been about 30 years since that happened! Rating: - The Acorn Didn't Fall Far from the OakThis CD has really passed my "acid test". I've been listening to it exclusively over the past week or so and it's one of those albums that just gets better as you get more familiar with it. "Will It Grow" is the best song I've heard all year. I really liked the Wallflowers, but Jacob Dylan's first solo album exceeds all of my expectations. Buy this if you liked his dad, the Wallflowers, sad songs, great acoustic guitar and drop dead amazing songwriting. Rating: - Great Cdbeing a huge Jakob Dylan fan, I loved the CD, the music and wonderful, but I will highly recommend to anyone to listed to this, the lyrics are amazing and his voice sounds great. I'm not givign it 5 starts because I felt that the way the songs were arranged made the cd to sound a bit flat at times. Rating: - Go DeepI really liked "The Empire in my Mind" by Wallflowers from "Red Letter Days," but did not wait breathlessly for each new release. "Seeing Things" harkens back to an older era, as is evidenced by the classic Columbia label on the CD from an early 60s era of vinyl pressings. The stark acoustic setting puts the emphasis on Dylan's songcraft and performance. "Will It Grow" marries a lovely melody with a restless spirit, "Dig my ditches in the golden sun; I'd be robbing these trains if I could catch ... Read More |
