These do not overheat unless you put them in a poorly ventilated place such as a closet or a cabinet. This product is awesome. I had been using it for about a week when a lot of smelly smoke started pouring from the vent above the light bulbs. I quickly unplugged it, afraid that it was about to burst into flames.
