The song "In the Garden" was a favorite fan concert performance and per Morrison, "I take you through a definite meditation process which is a form of transcendental meditation." This album was hailed by most critics as a return to form. John Wilde in Sounds remarks, "the crescendos here are never dampened by their subtle nature and never fall short of blinding. The whole album aches with a steady stream of sorrow." Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - One of Van's best...No Guru, No Method, No Teacher is probably Van's best effort of the 1980's and easily his best album since 'Into the Music' in 1979. As far as the bonus tracks go, "Lonely at the Top" is a great song and would have fit on the album nicely. The alternative version of "Oh the Warm Feeling" is nice, though hardly essential. This is a personal favorite of mine and one of Van's greatest triumphs. A must have!!! Rating: - "A creature all in rapture..."
