Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - not too good
The shipping makes it way over priced for its quality. The buttons are really stiff, and in no way is as good as the original. Though it works. Also the color and shape is not as good, duller and uglier. Compared to the original I wouldn't recommend, but I also do not know where to buy the original.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Equal parts quality and simplicity...need I say more?
Settle for no other, that is unless you can get your hands on the Japanese Famicom controllers with the minor difference of colored A, B, X, and Y buttons *drool*. I've played video games since I was 3 in that wonderful time of "The Death and Resurrection of Video Games"....ummmm...grandstanding aside, it's also known as the 80's. Anyways, in all the years that I've played, I've never found a controller for any system that could take as much punishment as this one, besides the original NES controller. I've taken both this and the NES controller apart to examine the parts and the adamantium-like plastic casing, I even did some tests with a hammer among other things, if only the controllers of other consoles still retained such quality. I played Tecmo Super Bowl with my elder brother all the time so destruction of peripherals was a natural action (when I wasn't playing fighting games or RPG's that is, see my other reviews...that was a shameless plant I know). I could throw it like a boomerang at a wall and it would stay together without any "rattles" to be heard. No I wasn't playing Zelda when I threw it like that, but that would have made a good pun wouldn't it? XD Bare with my bad humor...it's late and I'm out of Mountain Dew.

On a closing note, just make sure that when you find one used or whatever way you get your hands on this classic, that you give it a good cleaning with a game wipe and then beat the snot out of the buttons on a good fighting game or two first to really break it in if it hasn't been used in a long time.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - My review of a controller.
This, my friends, is a controller.

It has buttons, which if you apply pressure to using your fingers, it will cause characters on the screens to do such things as jump, kick, punch, or shoot any number of weapons.

There's a cross on it that symbolizes the sacrifice and passion that went into making this controller. That and movement for the character on screen.

There's a start button. That begins the game or pauses the action, so that the player may re-evaluate his gaming strategy. Next to it is ally and colleague "Select" which performs it's namesake - selecting positive items of interest.

There are also, on the top, "L" and "R" buttons on the top - L meaning "left" and R meaning "right." Their possibilities are endless, from moving a character to performing moves.

A classic controller. The only bad thing is sometimes my fingers hurt A LOT after button smashing on this thing. Owie...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome Controller
The official SNES controller is one of the best ever. The button layout is perfect for any type of game. The controller easily fits into any size hands. They are super durable. The D-Pad is very comfortable and easy to use. Heck, the start and select buttons are even easy to reach. This controller is absolutely perfect and a must have for your SNES system. Make sure you buy two of them so you can play with your friends.
Oh and one more thing: make sure you get the real Nintendo made controller. Don't buy those cheaper "new" third party look a like controllers. They stink.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Only the NES has a more durable controller...
(Gamer since the glory days of MULE on the Commodore 64 and Space Invaders on the Atari 2600...)

Not since the glory days of my incessant SuperNES gaming have I owned a controller that I could throw into walls, concrete blocks, and run over with my car (don't look so suprised, the Street Fighter II series instilled that kind of rage in all of us!) and still have the controller work as well as it did when I took it out of the box! I bought my first SuperNES system when it first came out in 1990, and I've put countless hours of use and abuse into the original controllers that came with it. 13 years later, they still work... OK. Of course, they're certainly not in as top form as they once were, but I chalk that up to not taking care of those controllers as well as I take care of my PS2 ones (well, now, Tekken Tag taught me how fragile THOSE controllers are, heh!). If I had, I bet they would still be in excellent working order instead of just fair.

I've owned a couple of off-brand controllers with various functions and whatnot, and they just don't stand up to the durability or have the comfort of the original controller. In fact, the SuperNES controller is THE most comfortable controller I have ever used on ANY system EVER (and I've played games on just about every console ever released). The PS1 controller is the only other controller that comes close.

About the only complaint I have is the short cord length (of course), but then, if ANY game system controller were made as long as they should, the companies wouldn't make near the money from extension cord sales...

If you're going to play retro, make sure you go with the original. Speaking of which, it's high time I revisit the mystical kingdom of Zeal... ta ta!
