- Good but I like the NordicWare betterI previously had and was very happy with the Nordic Ware 12-Cup Microwaver Corn Popper but I dropped it onto the floor and the corner cracked. I bought Presto as a replacement because I could not find the NordicWare in any of my local stores. The Presto works as advertised but I like the NordicWare better. The NordicWare is much simpler to use, it consists of just two pieces - the popping bowl and the lid, whereas the Presto consists of a base (called the Powerbase concentrator), a popping bowl which attachs to the base, a cardboard "PowerCup concentrator" which goes into the bottom of the popping bowl, and a lid. The Presto actually left less kernels unpopped than the NordicWare, but for some reason, the popcorn just didn't taste as good in the Presto (I used the same popcorn and about a tablespoon of oil in both). Also, there have been a couple of times where I left the popcorn in just a little too long (even though I was listening for the obligatory 2-3 seconds between pops), and the cardboard "PowerCup concentrator" became scorched with burn marks. To be fair, the popcorn itself was fine but seeing the darkened cardboard made me nervous. And, again to be fair, I've had some uneven results in the Nordicware, where the same amount of oil and popcorn and the same cooking time sometimes results in perfect popcorn and overdone popcorn other times. The Presto does seem to be more consistent in that regard. The instructions say that each cardboard "PowerCup concentrator" is good for up to 12 uses if you pop with oil and up to 24 if you pop the popcorn straight (without oil), and they give you a pack of 8 concentrators to begin with. I haven't been able to verify if those numbers are accurate as I am still on my first concentrator, but my preference would be to NOT have to deal with them at all. So when my supply of concentrators runs out, rather than go out and buy another pack, I will probably give up using the Presto and buy another NordicWare, since 5 packs of concentrators = the price of the Nordicware. Rating: - AWESOMEWonderful!! Quick way to get popcorn...in my opinion, it beats the already prepared microwave popcorn hands down. Very happy I purchased it... Rating: - best popperThis popper pops almost all the kernels, unlike some of the other poppers that leave a lot left over. Rating: - Like this alotI have used this now for about 10-15 times. The popcorn pops really quickly and comes out great. The only bad part about the product is having to purchase the liners . They need to come up with a permanent one that you can take out and clean to reuse. Judy M Rating: - Can't believe there are good reviewsAfter reading the good reviews we purchased this popper. WOW!! WAS THIS A DISAPPOINTMENT. The papers last maybe 4 times (if we're lucky) Forget using oil, spray etc of any sort. The papers are good for one time only. We have used several different brands of popcorn including the recommended one. And nothing makes a difference. We bought the unit at Wal-Mart and when we go back to buy more papers we find out they don't handle the paper for the popper. So if we want to continue to use it we have to order and pay a shipping cost. It's not worth the money or the bother. As far as the popcorn it pops fast and sometime it taste OK and sometime not. You would think they would come up with something better then paper liners or at least someone would come up with a better microwave popper. I can't believe that we are the only one that has had this problem. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNIT.
