Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - SNES Version still cool
I never bought the GBA version but i played the super nintendo version. The plot is really teh same so don't expect to find a different plot. This game is good in the adventure department. There are many places to go so you can go to Bowser. I think that if you still didn't buy it then do so. This is a game that doesn't have a twin. You have to beat a lot of stages. This game features the famous Lemmy, Iggy, etc.. koopas. You will find things to get so you can have a better chance of passing the stage. i think this game is the best game.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing
This is an awesome game, seriously. It keeps you going for hours, and it's got so many levels, so it's not a game where you finish within a couple days (although you probbly could beat this within a couple days if you were that good!). The graphics are good, and there's all sorts of different things to discover. And of course all those characters Yoshi, Peach, and Bowser come back. This is a great game, you've got to try it at least once!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Super Mario World is a nice treat.
One of the greatest SNES games of all time comes to the GBA in this re-release. Super Mario World for some actually came with the Super Nintendo so I've no doubt people have played it before. It's still a classic years later and not much really holds it down.

The graphics are about the same as they were on the SNES. Some of them look smoother and more lavish than they did before. Other than that there is no real different that you'd take direct notice to in the graphics of this game. The game moves at faster speeds as well, but again nothing you won't remember from the original SNES release.

The gameplay is also more or less the same. A few differences are clear, such as the game is now only one player and not two. You still select levels that you want to go to. If it has a yellow mark there is only one exit and therefore the level is straight forward. If the mark is red that means there is more than one exit in a level. This allows more exploration than that of Super Mario Brothers 3. You'll find many different ways to go through levels, eventually finding all 96 exits.

I'm assuming we all know the power-ups but let's review. The super mushroom of course turns a small Mario into Super Mario. The flower gives him flower power and the feather lets him and smack people with his cape. Mario can also exececute spin jumps to kill enemies. Simple gameplay that hasn't changed much from previous Mario games.

My con with the gameplay is that the game has been toned down and made easier. Things that would normally kill you in one hit rather you were big or small (Such as the spikes in Castle 6) no longer do that. Also, I remember in the SNES version that when you were hit by an enemy while you were Flower or Cape Mario, you were instantly small again. In this one if you have a feather or flower power up then you instantly go back to Super Mario and then you'll have to be hit again to go back to small Mario. Amazingly enough that one thing brings the difficulty of the game down greatly. There are power ups in every other box.

The story in this is that Bowswer has kidnapped Princess Toadstool and Yoshi's friends. Each world has a castle that you must destroy by defeating the castle boss. Defeating the boss rescues one of Yoshi's friends. Once you find all of Yoshi's friends you can take the battle to Bowser himself.

Mario World is a rather large game. There is no one set path to complete this game in. It's possible to complete the game after finding as littls as 12 exits if you're good enough. That's because there are warps in certain worlds that take you to others with little hassle.

Oh yeah the original Mario Bros. is on this one but if you have the first Mario Advance or any other one you'll probably ignore this one.

To sum it all up, Mario World is a Mario game worth playing. You'll find yourself playing it again and again and the 96 exits will keep you busy for a while. Great game! Worth the buy if you don't have it on SNES.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Legendary Classic
Starting from the top, Super Mario Advance kicked off its series with a port of Super Mario 2. Now, Super Mario 2 was of course the worst of the series, because well it originally wasn't meant to be a Mario game. I was disappointed, well, until Super Mario World was announced. At first I was skeptical because most ports have some problems, however, for this game it wasn't the case. Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World is everything you could want and more if you want a solid platform game, or if you are like me, want to relive the memories. It is truly amazing that there are some games that are over 10 years old, yet when you play them again, it feels like a new experience all over again. Super Mario World is one of those kinds of games. I remember my first boss battle, meeting Yoshi for the first time, clearing that last jump at Butter Bridge, and avoiding the dangers of the Sunken Ship. This plainly shows that if you want a platform, no one does it better than Mario.

The graphics are remarkable, and even to this day still amaze me. From the watery depths of Soda Lake to the mud covered Chocolate Mountain, the backgrounds are wonderful for each level, and the Game Boy Advance truly brings them out in full. The character animations for Mario and Luigi are well done, and the enemies look as good as ever, and so does the interaction animation. For example, when koopas lose their shell they will search for it, and when you stomp on a skeleton monster it will fall to pieces, only to surprise you by coming back to life. The lighting effects, backgrounds, and character animations will not disappoint, and have made a great transition to the Game Boy Advance.

Some would think that because this is a Game Boy Advance game the sounds would be below par. However, if you are familiar with the music from the SNES version you will know that they were all brilliant. The transition from the original to the Game Boy Advance has done nothing but improve on the music quality. The haunting music from the Ghost Tower is still there, as well as the relaxing charms from the water levels. The music will definitely not disappoint, however the voice acting is another story. It is interesting they gave Mario and Luigi voices in the game, and they actually sound good. However, they soon become a tad monotonous. After hearing "Mama mea" a hundred times every time you lose a life, it eventually will wear on your nerves. All in all, the good outweigh the bad here, and the music is good enough to keep the volume up on your Game Boy Advance.

Basically the flow of the game is that of a classic Mario game. The story is no different from the usual rescue princess from Bowser, but hey do you play platforms for the story? Back to the gameplay, you move along throughout the levels overcoming obstacles, enemies, collecting coins, and power-ups, and trying to get to the end of the level, or the "goal." The goal looks like a field goal post with a bar moving up and down the post. The higher you connect with the bar the more points you get. When you get 100 points something special happens, but you will have to find out that secret for yourself. The other concept of gameplay is the additional item grid at the top of the screen. The item grid will hold a power-up that you have stored away. By pressing select or when you are attacked the item will slowly fall and you can grab it, restoring your power. Speaking of powers, you all should remember the classic mushroom and flower. However, the new cape ability gives you the chance to fly for a short time. You can also use the cape as a weapon. There are other abilities but I won't spoil them for you, even if you know what they are. Lastly Yoshi makes several appearances throughout the game, and his addition makes the game even better

How about that replay value? Some would say because it is a platform it would get boring as soon as you complete it...that is wrong. The wonderful thing about this game is the secrets. In some levels there are alternate ways to beating it, and if you find the hidden goal you will be rewarded. Sometimes with a new type of item, and other times you will get a new level. Speaking of levels there are over 90 stages of gameplay, each with their own unique puzzles and challenge. You will also have noticed another game option on the title screen. That is the Super Mario Brothers Arcade. It is a classic multiplayer game that you can play with your friends, the objective? Get a lot of points by defeating enemies while staying alive. While it was in the first Super Mario Advance, that doesn't mean it isn't fun. It is always fun to beat your friends, and this extra option is another reason the game is a joy to play.

Overall, this game is incredible. After, all these years the game is as fun as ever, and its light hearted gameplay will give any gamer, whether old or new, a great experience. It is also shows that Nintendo really knows how to port some great games. All in all, if you are in need of a great platform for the road or just missed out on the original, be sure to pick up Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World, it's a winner!
