- Game is fun, beware of the people playing itSadly, even though the game itself is great, if you're going into it with an idea that you'll be entering a different fantasy world be warned - it's exactly like real life, only more so in many respects. Both myself and my fiancee experienced almost nonstop incidents of harassment, sexual harassment, foul language, blatant racism, psychotics who've made the game their only interest in life (and believe the game belongs only to them, and you HAVE to play their way or they'll dog your every step and insult you constantly), on and on and on. The Blizzard game managers exercise almost no control over the situation, and do pretty much nothing to help players having these problems. Usually the only solution they offer is to recommend changing realms (for a $25 fee per character, gee thanks), change your character's name to chase the harassers away (for just a $10 fee per character - what a bargain!) or for you to put offending players on 'ignore'. But we found all realms equally bad, and after 'ignoring' up to 100 players per day for almost 6 months we just got fed up and realized there were better and more productive ways to spend our lives. If you're a parent thinking about exposing your children to this world, I strongly urge you to pass it by unless you want your kids to learn how to be abusive and foul mouthed. Rating: - Better The Everquest...A lot better.I first began my online gaming with Everquest 2, that got really old and boring so i canceled my account and for almost two years i stop playing online games until i saw this in my local store and decide to buy, long story short i love this game very fun, and simple but never get tired of it playing it. Graphics are a little toonish but beside that a great game. Thanks to this game I got the courage to downloaded a trail version of Everquest to see which i like better, which is most likely this one but who knows. Rating: - Overwhelmingly fun and addictingThis is probably one of the best computer games I have ever played. It is so involved, but also quite easy to play and understand. I imagine anyone could play this game and almost immediately understand what they are supposed to do. However, there are also many levels to the game which makes it fun even for the most advanced gamer. The only problem with this game is that once you stop playing you better be ready to give up the next several months of your life to it. Rating: - interesting game you may want to avoidThe fact that this is great entertainment can not be questioned. What players should venture into this entertainment world? THAT'S the question. If you have no friends who play this game, have any sort of difficulty with self control and have other responsibilities necessary for survival, you may regret picking this game. WoW is like a real world where everything is at your fingertips and will come easy for you. Switching back to your actual life may be difficult. People eventually lose custody of children, drop out of school, lose their jobs, etc. There are news articles about people who died playing this game (and a baby who had died of neglect, because his parents were so addicted). My husband and I accumulated debt while playing, because we both could only work part time (WoW was that important). We couldn't cover all the bills. We had guild-mates who were taken to court for child neglect. If you have friends who play, consider buying WoW and playing in spurts. It's a good way to socialize with them. It might be the only way - they might be that addicted. I take off work and reactivate my WoW account when old friends with active accounts come to visit for the summer/holidays. It's like taking a cheap vacation with them. When they leave, I quit WoW and start earning a living again. If you have a terminal illness or are elderly, this game would be GREAT for you. I knew several retired players and one with cancer who played while in and out of the hospital. In WoW, you are 20 years old and can look beautiful, frightening, funny, whatever you choose. You can do whatever you like. In WoW, there is no pain. If you do play WoW full-time (like almost everyone does at some point), it will get old. Anything can get boring eventually. I had an active account for two years and gave the game up six months ago. I've played Guild Wars for a year, still play it, and enjoyed an guild alliance of 1000 people communicating through vent from around the world (including real life neighbors I met through vent), beautiful scenery, a much more interesting storyline and a more engaging, fairer PVP system, and more FOR FREE. Guild Wars is not as addictive for me, but it is fun. So there are alternatives out there. Rating: - Say Goodbye To Your Life, ForeverThis is one of the most widely played MMORPG's. I have a 63 undead warlock. The past summer and fall has been spent doing nothing but playing this game. If your life includes socializing, responsibility, employment, children, romantic relationships, friends, pets, or family... then this game is not for you. If you're bored with life and need something time consuming to replace your existance with... then this game may be for you. Highly addictive, incredibly time consuming, 4 and a half stars.
